The Art of Music LLC is excited to begin offering children's yoga classes this spring! Certified children's yoga instructor Anna Ferguson of Anna's Yoga will offer 6-week courses on Tuesdays at our new studio location: 129 N. Orangewick Dr. in Lewis Center, Ohio.
The classes are 1-hour long on Tuesdays beginning at 9:30am, 11:30am and 5:30pm starting March 28 and running through May 2. Parents and caregivers are strongly encouraged to participate during all classes at no additional cost. Each class will contain elements of yoga, music and mindfulness that will be customized to meet the needs of all children of all abilities (children with special needs, as well as, children developing typically) ages 3-8. Parent participation is strongly encouraged at no additional cost. All materials are provided. Children and their parent/provider will learn how to exercise, develop confidence, and concentrate better through various yoga activities. Each hour will address physical, emotional, mental, and social needs: breathing exercises, yoga poses, music, movement, games, stories, artistic expression, creative visualizations, affirmations, and relaxation. We will have fun playing with scarves, stuffed animals, finger puppets, painted rocks, stickers, etc. Each week we will focus on age appropriate social skills as well as lessons such as joy, gratitude, kindness, peace, patience, self-control, and connection. Your family will be able to practice poses together at home to help with relaxation, bonding, and lessening anxiety after “holding it together” all day at school and work. There will also be a special gift to take home after each class that will be made together or provided by Anna. We hope to share more pictures and information about an Open House soon! We now have dates and times for our first Canvas Club and Canvas & Conversation in the new location! The next Kids' Canvas Club is "Jaunty Giraffe" on Monday, March 20 from 5:30-6:30pm. The fee for the 1-hour class is $30 and includes supplies. (There is no fee for anyone who signs up and pays for our spring 5-week session, "Artful Beginnings".) The next Canvas & Conversation for Parents, Delaware County BDD Staff, and any interested Community Members is "Spring Flower" on Friday, April 28 from 7:30-9:00pm. “Artful Beginnings” is the first session of 2017 and in our new arts studio!
Each week we will work on several take home projects in a variety of media. During this session, we will be creating a progressive sculpture, a “Perky Peacock”, a “Funky Feather”, “Musical Kwikie Dots”, “Crazy Cat” art piece, and a “Jaunty Giraffe”, just to name a few. During music, we will sometimes integrate music with our art making and also experience different musical styles through fine and gross motor movement, finger plays, rhythm instrument play, parachute play, and other musical activities. Dates: Fridays, March 10th through April 7th OR Mondays, March 13th through April 10th Class times: Mondays or Fridays 9:30am and 11:30 “Mommy and Me” – ages 1-5 (1-4 year olds require a participating adult to accompany them for this class) 2:00pm, and 4:00pm- ages 3-7yrs 5:30pm- ages 8-21 (Mondays only)** ** This class focuses on the creation of visual arts with music as a backdrop. NEW Location: The Art of Music LLC 129 N. Orangewick Dr. Lewis Center, OH Fee: $150 for the 5-week session If your child receives services through the Delaware County Board of DD, please contact your Support Administrator to complete the PAS (payment for authorization services) form before the session begins. I must have this form prior to the first class. If you plan to pay privately, a $25 deposit is due with the enrollment form to secure your child’s reservation. The balance of $125 is due the first day of class. If you are interested in signing up numerous children and would like for them to be in the same class time slot I will work with you as best I can to make this happen. Please keep in mind that I like to keep certain age groups together so that the activities are age appropriate. They are wrapping up the build-out and we are scheduled to have the walls painted and some new flooring installed starting next week.
Barring any last minute obstacles, we will be ready to resume our class sessions on Friday, March 10th and Monday, March 13th. We are so excited and can’t wait to share the new Studio with you all! We hope to have an Open House on Sunday, March 5th. More information regarding the Open House to follow very soon! |
